Lesson 2: Copyright

A trademark is a word, phrase, symbol, and/or design that identifies and distinguishes the source of the goods of one party from those of others.
A copyright protects works of authorship, such as writings, music, and works of art that have been tangibly expressed.

Fair Use Introduction
As an exception to copyright, fair use has been a key to the freedoms individuals have in interacting online. Fair use permits individuals to do things that could otherwise be deemed illegal under copyright law — like using clips from a television show in a video produced to comment on a controversy related to the television show. The copyright statute codifies the following four factors in weighing whether or not the use of a copyrighted work is a fair use:

Lesson 5:
Create a Smore Informational Flyer to cover the topic of fair use.
Assignment: Use your school gmail and create a Smore account. You are to create an informational flyer on Fair Use. Please share the flyer with me at [email protected]

Time to review and learn a few new things:
Take time to look over the first video located at the top of the page on this website: 21things4students
Read through the Introduction and the learning objectives. Then complete each quest. Be sure to save all your work in a google document so you can share it with me when I give directions to do so. Make sure you take notes as you move through each quest for the final exam. Save them in a separate google document.
Quest 1: After you watch the videos and take notes, Do # 2 and skip # 3. Do the test and screenshot your results. (To screenshot: hit the print screen key and then paste it into a paint document and save it. Then open a google doc and insert that file (jpg) into your google doc) Save in a google document.
Quest 2: Complete all steps carefully and save your final product in a google document. Be sure to take notes and add them to your notes from Quest #1.
Quest 3: Take notes as needed. For this quest you will be completing the advanced activity in a blog on your google blog. You will not be making the poster. I will give directions for the final graded project.
